I have a 90 300ZX TT that I rebuilt the engine on a couple years ago and the car ran the best it ever has since I have owned it. Really long story, slightly less long: Car ran great, then after about a year, started to lose power/boost. Found that the drivers turbo wastegate was sticking open. Fixed that. Car was running really good after but seemed a little off, but wasn't too worried about it, but did hear a SLIGHT exhaust leak after the turbo was fixed. Car started to lose power/boost again and assumed it was the turbo again, but drove the car while saving up $$ to buy NEW turbos. Exaust leak got worse and car didn't want to idle until after the engine was warm. Finally saved up the $ for new turbos and brought the car to my work to have the engine checked to make sure it was ok before putting on bigger turbos...the car ran horrible. Tech at my work (Ford dealer) checked the compression: right bank fine, 3 left cylinders low. Soaked the left cylinders in carb cleaner, compression went up, but still wasn't perfect. Found exhaust leak to be left exhaust manifold gasket. Brought to Nissan dealer to check idle issue and they want to replace the main engine harness because "some connectors were broken and it should be done". I used to be a service advisor and basically I get the drift that they don't want to work on it. They could not give me a reason specifically why it needs to be replaced and would not reimburse me or undo the harness replacement if it did not fix my problem. Anyone know a good NISSAN tech in the Detroit, MI area or any ideas. I don't want to drag this post any longer.
